How to create a Helical poly beam in Advance Steel

Advance Steel 2019 How to Create a Helicoidal Poly Beam with 2019 Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel 2019

I have been asked multiple times on how to use the Spiral and Helical tools in the 2019 Graitec PowerPack for Advance Steel 2019. 

The Helicoidal poly beam tool allows you to create a 3D helix and is located on the Graitec PowerPack Ribbon, Objects panel.

How to create a Helical poly beam in Advance Steel PowerPackRibbon Tool

Follow the procedure to create the poly beam seen in the figure below.

  • Select the center/start point: 0,0,0 and hit the Enter key.
  • Enter the start radius: 14 hit the Enter key.
  • Enter the total height or [Number-of-rotations/Rotation-height/Direction]: d hit the Enter key.
  • Select the direction [Clockwise/Anti-clockwise]: C hit the Enter key.
  • Enter the total height or [Number-of-rotations/Rotation-height/Direction]: r hit the Enter key
  • Enter the height between rotations: 12
  • Please enter the total height or [Number-of-rotations/Rotation-height/Direction]: n
  • Enter the number of rotations: 12 hit the Enter key.
  • How many points? <30>: 200 and hit the Enter key.
  • The properties box is displayed where you can further customize and fine tune the Helicoidal straight beam as you would any other section. As this is a poly beam select an element of the entire structure to make changes. Once the Properties dialog box is displayed, you can now further customize and fine tune the
  • Helicoidal poly beam as you would any other section.
