This tool allows you to create a 3D helix This tool can assist in creating helical stair stringers set-out lines or the direct creation of helical stair stringers from catalog sections.
The Helicoidal polyline tool is located on the GRAITEC PowerPack tab Objects panel.
Expand the flyout on the Objects panel to invoke the Sprial poly beam.
Follow the workflow below to produce the Helicoidal polyline as seen in the figure.
1. Please select center point: 0,0,0 and hit the Enter key.
2. Please enter the start radius: 12 and hit the Enter key.
3. Please enter the end radius: 18 and hit the Enter key.
4. Please enter the total height or [Number-of-rotations/Rotation-height/Direction]: d.
5. Please select the direction [Clockwise/Anti-clockwise]: C and hit the Enter key.
6. Please enter the total height or [Number-of-rotations/Rotation-height/Direction]: r and hit the Enter key.
7. Please enter the height between rotations: 12 and hit the Enter key.
8. Please enter the total height or [Number-of-rotations/Rotation-height/Direction]: n and hit the Enter key.
9. Please enter the number of rotations: 2 and hit the Enter key.
10. How many points? <30>: 150 and hit the Enter key.
Why not utilize the beam from line or beam from polyline from the Objects tab to create a custom stringer for a spiral stair.
You can use a Flat or any preferred section class, type and size!
The section properties box will be displayed where you can further customize and fine tune the Helicoidal polyline as you would any other section!
